Arizona Trap & Skeet

Southern Arizona has world-class clay shooting. Tucson Trap and Skeet hosts national championships every year, and smaller fields around the region make it easy to break targets on a weekday morning. With the Pima County clay center closed while it moves, these are the places to shoot clays near Tucson.

Getting started with clays

  • Start with trap or 5-stand; staff will match you with a coach or a squad
  • A 12 or 20 gauge with an open choke works for beginners
  • Bring eye and ear protection, a hat and plenty of water
  • Shoot target loads only: 7.5, 8 or 9 shot
